Fujairah Mountains & Beach

Fujairah is the only emirate on the Gulf of Oman, and the drive there is the reason many guests book it. The route climbs out of Dubai through the Hajar mountains via Masafi, where the road narrows between ochre rock walls, then drops to a coastline of black-sand beaches and dive sites at Snoopy Island. It is a genuine change of scenery rather than another city day, which is why it suits guests who have already done Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The chauffeured format matters more here than anywhere else in the UAE. Mountain sections have limited phone coverage, few marked laybys and occasional loose gravel after rain; the descent to Dibba has sharp switchbacks. A standard day includes Al Bidyah Mosque — the oldest mosque in the UAE, built from mud brick and stone in around 1446 — the Fujairah Fort and museum, the Friday Market at Masafi, and a long stop on the coast at Al Aqah for lunch and swimming. Guests who dive or snorkel often start earlier so they can be at Snoopy Island before the afternoon wind picks up.

Note that the east coast route passes briefly through Sharjah territory, where alcohol is prohibited and the police enforce speed limits closely. Ten hours is the comfortable envelope for the day; if you want to add Khor Fakkan's amphitheatre and waterfall, budget an extra hour rather than compressing the coast time.
