Why with a driver

Why renting a car with a driver in Dubai just makes sense

Dubai's roads are fast, signposted in two languages and policed by Salik gates and speed cameras. For most visitors and resident executives, a self-drive rental adds friction the trip didn't need: deposits, insurance excess, navigation, fines that arrive months later. Renting a car with a driver removes all of that for less than you'd expect — often less than the daily cost of a luxury self-drive once Salik, fuel and parking are factored in.

FAQ

Renting a car with a driver, answered

How much does it cost to rent a car with a driver in Dubai?

Hourly rates start at AED 150/hr in a Mercedes E-Class with a 3-hour minimum. Half-day from AED 700, full-day from AED 1,200 (10 hours, 250 km). Monthly chauffeur retainers start at AED 12,000. All fares include fuel, Salik and parking — fixed at booking, no surge.

What is the difference between renting a car with a driver and a chauffeur service?

Functionally none — both give you a vehicle and a professional driver for a defined time. "Rent a car with driver" is the everyday phrase; "chauffeur service" usually implies a higher service standard: black-on-black late-model fleet, uniformed driver, meet-and-greet and fixed fares. Chauffeurr operates at the chauffeur-service standard at car-with-driver prices.

Can I rent a car with a driver in Dubai by the hour?

Yes. The minimum booking is 3 hours from AED 150/hr. After the third hour we bill in 30-minute increments. Common use cases: executive meetings, half-day shopping at Dubai Mall, city tours, restaurant runs in DIFC and Downtown.

Do you cover Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates?

Yes — your chauffeur drives you anywhere in the UAE. Inter-emirate trips are quoted as a fixed fare or built into a daily/monthly plan. No extra charge for Salik gates.

Can I rent a car with a driver for a month in Dubai?

Yes. Monthly chauffeur hire from AED 12,000 includes a dedicated, vetted driver, the vehicle, fuel, Salik and full maintenance. Ideal for resident executives, family offices and visiting consultants.

Are your drivers licensed?

Every chauffeur holds a UAE chauffeur permit. Chauffeurr is operated by Al Rwad Limousine LLC under RTA Limousine trade licence 578599. Drivers are uniformed, background-checked and trained for international hospitality.

In detail

Car with driver versus self-drive rental

Renting a car with a driver in Dubai is a different product from renting a car, and the comparison is worth making honestly rather than as a sales argument. Self-drive is cheaper on the headline rate and gives complete spontaneity. It also puts you on Sheikh Zayed Road in an unfamiliar vehicle, in traffic that changes character three times a day, with a Salik account to open, a security deposit held against your card, a fuel policy to comply with, and a fine-notification lag that can surface weeks after you have flown home.

The chauffeured version removes all of that administration and replaces the driving with waiting. There is no deposit, no excess, no Salik registration, no parking hunt and no fine correspondence, because the vehicle is ours and every one of those costs sits inside the quoted rate. What you are actually buying is the hours you would otherwise spend parking, navigating and worrying about a scratch on a hire car in a multi-storey.

The break-even is not where people expect. For a couple doing two or three journeys a day within the city, chauffeured hourly hire is frequently cheaper than a rental once parking fees, Salik crossings, fuel and the airport surcharge on collection are counted honestly. Self-drive pulls ahead when the itinerary is long-distance and unstructured — a week of desert and mountain driving, or a stay in a community where you are in the car six or seven times a day for short hops.

Our rates are structured by time rather than distance because the vehicle stays with you. Hourly runs on a three-hour minimum from AED 150 in an E-Class, with executive and first-class tiers above it; a ten-hour day starts at AED 1,200; and weekly and monthly arrangements are quoted against your pattern, with the monthly option the cheapest per hour by a considerable margin. Fuel, Salik, Darb, parking and the chauffeur's hours are all included.

Every vehicle is under three years old, RTA-licensed for commercial passenger transport and fully insured for that use — a distinction worth understanding, because a standard rental car driven by a hired driver often falls outside its own policy wording. Chauffeurs hold UAE licences with commercial endorsement, are road-tested on both saloons and large SUVs before joining the panel, and are briefed on the itinerary before the first pickup.

The service extends across all seven emirates without a change in arrangement. A day that starts in Dubai, runs to Abu Dhabi for meetings and returns via Sharjah is one booking with one chauffeur, and the cross-border tolls and fuel are inside the day rate. That is difficult to replicate with a rental, where inter-emirate driving is permitted but the navigation, the Darb registration and the unfamiliar enforcement rules all become your problem.

For longer stays, the monthly placement is the arrangement most residents settle on. One named chauffeur, a designated backup who has already shadowed the routes, a fixed monthly figure invoiced with VAT, and no vehicle asset on your books. For visitors, hourly and daily hire covers the same ground without commitment. Either way the price is agreed in writing before the car is assigned, and it does not change for peak hours, holidays or event weekends.
