Hourly chauffeur, your hours.

Hourly chauffeur hire — 'as-directed' in corporate travel language — is the right structure whenever the day has more than two stops, or when the return time is genuinely unknown. You book a block of time, the same chauffeur and the same car stay with you throughout, and the itinerary can change mid-morning without a phone call to dispatch or a new quote. The car waits at the kerb or in the nearest permitted bay while you are inside, so there is no valet ticket to redeem and no ten-minute gap between deciding to leave and actually leaving.

The arithmetic is usually decisive from about two and a half hours upward. Three separate point-to-point transfers across Dubai — say Downtown to DIFC, DIFC to Al Quoz, Al Quoz to DXB — are each priced with their own positioning leg, because a car has to reach you before every pickup. An hourly booking pays for that positioning once. Above roughly four stops in a day, the hourly rate is almost always the cheaper line on the invoice as well as the calmer one on the calendar.

Our minimum is three hours, and the rate is quoted per hour with everything folded in: fuel, Salik tolls, parking, the chauffeur's time and waiting. There is no surge multiplier at 8 AM, on Friday evenings, during Ramadan, or in DWTC exhibition weeks — the number quoted at booking is the number invoiced. If the day runs long, additional time is billed in the same hourly increment at the same rate rather than at a penalty tariff.

Vehicle choice tends to follow the passenger rather than the distance. A Mercedes E-Class is the default for one or two people moving between meetings. The BMW 5 Series and 7 Series sit a step up for client-facing days where the car is part of the impression. The S-Class is the board-level and partner-grade choice. A V-Class is the practical answer for a group of four to seven with laptop bags, sample cases or luggage, and it is also the vehicle that makes a full day of site visits comfortable, because people can talk across the cabin between stops.

Common patterns we run every week: an executive with a four-meeting day across Downtown, DIFC and Business Bay; a family doing a school run, a mall stop and an afternoon at the beach without wanting to park anywhere; a visiting delegation that needs the same driver from hotel to conference and back for three consecutive days; and a real-estate viewing loop through Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches and Damac Hills where each stop takes an unpredictable twenty to fifty minutes.

Practical etiquette makes the day run better. Message the chauffeur when you are five minutes from coming down, and the car is at the kerb as you reach it. Tell dispatch at booking if a stop is in a building with restricted vehicle access — parts of DIFC, the Marina podium buildings, and several Sheikh Zayed Road towers have a designated drop-off that is not the main lobby entrance. If a meeting overruns, nothing needs to happen at all: the chauffeur holds, and the clock simply continues at the agreed rate.

Full days of ten hours are priced as a block and work out below the accumulated hourly rate. They also unlock inter-emirate legs at no separate charge beyond the day rate, so an Abu Dhabi meeting sandwiched between two Dubai stops does not need to be quoted as a distinct transfer. Corporate accounts can put multiple named users on one purchase order with net-30 invoicing and cost-centre tagging, which is generally the point at which finance teams stop reimbursing individual receipts.
